A good start to the interim Noel era. An enjoyable game to watch. Would love to see these guys go on a tear & finish strong.

Wow ....Hitch must of seen this on tv ,wonder what his facial expression must of been like when Mace made some key saves . Rumor has it he's going to St-Louis,fine by me ,can't wait to see Filatov net a few against the other Mason and in front of Hitch.

I'll say Mason played well.  However the win was truly due to the Jackets' defensive game.  I had to watch the game on FS Dallas because of the Cleveland Cavs game being on FS Ohio and all the Dallas announcers kept talking about was the great 2 way play of the Jackets.  They specifically spoke highly of Nash, Vermette, Pahlsson, Umberger, Hejda, Voracek, and Jurcina.

I mean, 3 shots in 3 power plays?  That's great PK right there.

I dunno how far this goes towards demonstrating that the team is changed, though.  Our last home game against the stars was virtually the same and resulted in a 1-0 win for Garon.  We seem to be able to play well defensively against the Stars this year and put tons of pressure on Turco.  If only we played that way against every other team...

The team definitely looked different to me.  I'm certainly not as well versed on the terminology as some, but it just seemed like the forwards were in a better position to back check all night.  That certainly could be a result of higher effort, but I tend to think that creating space on the ice allows the skilled plays to be... I don't know... skillful.

Umberger's goal was the number 5 play on Sportscenter this morning!!! Has ESPN returned to caring about the NHL again?? The Capitals Rangers game was the 2nd highlight shown in the telecast....ive never seen that before, period.

NOPE just must have been a slow night in the NBA ( no one got caught with a gun or drugs )

as long as ESPN doest have the right to show games they will show as little highlights as possible

didnt think of that before...but still hockey 2nd on the show, they usually would choose cricket over the NHL. the only reason i think it was on other than nothing else to show was that it was ovi, even espn is trying to pump him up as much as they can
