So I figured I should make an introduction thread and properly say hello, glad to have found a good Blue Jackets forum.
I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in the suburb of Fairfield. Grew up playing street hockey in the neighborhood and going to youth hockey clinics in Oxford while watching Miami University hockey. Dad used to be a AHL Cincinnati Mighty Ducks partial season ticket holder so I went to a lot of those games as well as IHL Cincinnati Cyclones games during those years when Cincinnati had two top minor league teams across town.
Random Fact: IHL Cincinnati Cyclones player Doug Macdonald once gave me a black eye in 1997 during a youth hockey clinic when he hit me in the face with a street hockey puck. I was participating in a thing called the "Concrete Clones" where you put on roller blades and go do drills/scrimages while being taught by Cyclones players. He signed the practice jersey I was wearing before I went to the hospital to get checked for a concussion.
Was 11 when the Blue Jackets were founded and didn't care/follow them much at the time, my dad is a big Rangers fan being from New York so I grew up on Rangers/Islanders. Started following the Jackets heavily when I went off to college in Athens, OH and was a little over an hour away from Columbus. Since then I've moved back to Cincinnati where I transferred to Northern Kentucky University and currently work as a freelance photographer. Adopted the Jackets as "my" NHL team since they're the closest to my home and have been following them ever since. I also attend a lot of Cincinnati Cyclones games and really love minor league hockey.
I run a website called Queen City Discovery, which doesn't have anything to do with hockey, but you might find it cool:
