This is why I firmly believe more changes need to be made.  Granted GMSH did make a change last off season in a horrible scouting department, yet with all the preaching that you build teams through the draft, he and his predecessor have seriously hurt our franchise's growth.  If CBJ refuse to replace Priest, they need to bring in a senior executive to run the hockey operations and get this curse of bad drafting away from our franchise (among all the other issues).

I agree, we need to change- there have been years where some wondered why we made the selections we did.  We need to change before the next draft - it looks like we may have a shot at the #1 pick ...again.

I dunno, is it chicken or egg?

There's no argument that if you look backwards our #1 picks are not "accomplished" now.  Does that make them bad picks?

The other piece is development.  Most of those #1s were rushed to the bigs and most did not do well with it.  Nash is the obvious exception.  Leclaire is made of glass.  Picard was a miss, as was Filatov (my wife wanted Schenn).

Drafting may be the issue, but to just say that while ignoring what happened after the kids were drafted is at least an oversight.

I think the real question is what has the organization done to surround these guys , I mean , Tyler Wright is good and all be he wont teach Savard or Moore how to play defence let alone Tyutin or Wiznewsky for that matter (not really qualified refrences). Brule could of been good if he was playing in a league full of midgets (crashing toward Hamrlik when he is almost twice your body weight not the best of ideas). And thinking that Voracek is a goal scorer when in juniors passing was his bread and butter and it didnt take a scout to see that but just by looking at actual stats is baffling.
