7 wins in regulation in the last 54 games, with another 5 OT/SO wins. So 12 out of 54. Who do you blame? Arniel? Howson? Nash? Mason? Everybody is equally accountable, but when there are problems on the entire ship, usually the captain of the ship is the first to go (in this case, Arniel or Howson).

While Howson is responsible for the players at Arniel's disposal, Arniel is ultimately accountable for the what, when, where, and why's. 12 out of 54 is revolting, pathetic, and a slap in the face to every fan who shamelessly throws their money toward this franchise expecting change, but see no improvements.

Things have to change.

Jackets 4-2 tonight and thats only because Im feeling Christmas-y today.

here is what i feel is the deal ...

the team sucks ... has no real direction ... or leadership

the owners have no hockey sense ...

the GM has done almost everything in his power to help this team win and win now ... has secured players long term ( not all of them have worked out well ... Mason , Brass , R.J. but given the option of losing them to free agency he signed them )

the coach is clearly not an NHL coach ... the players don't respect him or his decisions or lack of them ...

the players are at this point with the season lost are at best just showing up for work ...

the owners and GM know the coach sucks ... but why fire him now ...? why not wait ... hell he is serving a purpose ... the team has 9 wins in almost half a season ... we are sailing towards the draft lottery and have a strong shot at #1 overall  ... which would be a clear win for the franchise

there have been what 5 coaches fired on teams that were doing better than we are/were at the point those coaches were fired ...

Coaching "not the issue"

http://www.bluejacketsxtra.com/content/blogs/puck-rakers/2011/12/howson-on-arniel.html

So since we can't blame the coach for 7 regulation wins in 53 games, I suppose now we have to blame the players?Granted they are to blame in some respect, but when a system isn't working, what makes you think it'll work later?

Please STOP playing Mason!

Wouldn't it be safe to assume that mason sucks and maybe getting rid of him would be enough to get a winning team.

It seems like Arniel just plays mind games with the players, opposed to telling them what's wrong up front. It's hard to say if this is true seeing as I'm nowhere near the bench or the locker room. I just don't like the look of Arniel, he looks sinister.

Sinister and not a winner.

And yet, for whatever odd reason, he is not on the chopping block.

As has been said before, why fire him now?  What is that going to do?

I hope they lose out quite honestly.  It'd be nice to have a true number one overall pick on the squad.  It only takes a couple and a hockey mind (Craig Patrick) to fill in the other slots.

Mason has to be gone at the end of the season.  Not sure where he's going to go but he can't come back.  Nash would be great trade bait and I don't want to hear about him being untouchable because at this point he isn't the leader or the difference maker that this team needs.  He's a nice complementary player but he isn't the guy who is going to put the team on his back.  He wants to be (and is) a role player.

I'm not sure who I'd keep on this team to be honest.  Dorsett.  Carter.  Prospal.  Johansen.  Nikita is playing well.  That's about it (I'm sure I've left someone off that list).

Keep everyone together for this season, finish with 18 wins and draft a difference maker in June.

Let me guess, this is the weakest draft in 20 years, right?  beer

At this point there is zero chance of making the playoffs, so they might as well make thefirst overall pick their top priority. Make some trades for some prospects and let the rebuild begin. The quick and dirty buy a playoff appearance didn't work, so might as well try the old fashioned rebuild. Worked wonders for Florida this year.
