Carcillo gets 7 games for this:
http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=60&id=147177

One of the dirtiest players in the league, a 50 time repeat offender, and not a top player on his team.

Wiz gets 8 games for a hit on Clutterbuck (who undoubtedly deserves it, embellished it, and was uninjured) in the PRESEASON? Sounds like somebody was trying to make an example out of a marquee player.

I thought the goal this year was to make more consistant punishments for illegal hits? Good job, morons.

I agree.  Shanahan has not been at all consistant with the punishments.  I agree that Carcillo should have got a lot more than 7 games.  I mean he has already been suspended twice this season (2 games each time).

Keep in mind, Wiz actually got a 12 game suspension, 4 pre-season and 8 regular season.  He was made an example of and still no one has got as bad of a punishment as he did for hits that were much worst than his.  But I think one reason that Wiz's suspension was more was because the hit happened after play had stopped.

I'll never forget a DRW game where he was on the point.  The puck hit him high and he dropped like he was dead.  We were on a breakaway and the officials stopped the play to tend to him.  He popped up and didn't miss a shift.

Integrity doesn't come and go....a man has it or he does not.
