why it makes sense ...

he is still young enough to have plenty of productive years ahead of him
he is and has been virtually injury free for most of his career
he is popular and could be another teams rock star
when surrounded by good players he can be dominant
we could potentially get back a major player or players or high picks
he deserves to win ... if not here ... somewhere
we could make RJ captain ( as he should be )
we could package him with Mason or Brassard and get help

Blasphemy, oh my!

Chunk, I am surprised the piranhas haven't circled you yet and ate your rep up in true adult fashion  ROFL

A very intelligent and rather good looking fellow has said this on more than one occasion.  And had it been done two years ago, we would now (or at least next year) be seeing the reward from it.

Rick Nash will never be able to lead a team to a winner, he is not a top 15 guy.  He is a top 5 second tier guy, hence he needs to be on a team with a top guy to win.  Our problem is and always has been that we have forced fed this Nash is elite scenario on the fans.  Every year, we blame coaches, injuries, position needs, and my favorite "chemistry", as the reason we suck.... The one constant, NASH!

In true mismanagement fashion, we now have waited to long.  Nash would bring some decent return, but he is damaged goods, and is nowhere near the trade piece he was 2-3 years ago, just like Mason!  There is no way a team will trade a proven NHL player at the level we need for Nash, that's why you hear the GM say Nash is here as our captain.  The only thing we can get is a 1st round pick, AHL prospect, and maybe a 2nd line defenseman.  And if that 1st round pick is a top 3 pick, you aren't getting much else.  The top teams interested in Nash are looking at him to lead their 2nd line, sorry that's a fact.

Oh, by the way, just got off the phone with Jake Voracek, he says thanks to CBJ management!

Stay strong Chunk, your making good sense  good

thanks fly ... good to see you are not just lurking in the shadows and waiting to pounce on this wounded animal that is the #CBJ and it's fanbase ...

while i know and agree you have said many if not all the things i said earlier ... i want it to be known that i don't want Nash to go ... i would like to see him stay and end his career here hopefully with some solid winning seasons and a few playoff pushes before he goes ...

that being said ... and being realistic ...

i do believe trading him soon or in the off season would benefit the franchise deeply ...

i also believe that we could swing a really good deal and alot of teams would LOVE to have him ... especially Canadian market teams ... or large market teams in general ...

while i love Nasher and want him to stay ... i love the crest on the front more than the nameplate on the back ...

More like the Rick Nash era isnt going anywhere , its becoming a running gag and I think this team can rebuild the proper way by trading or dear leader.

This is where I would trade Nash:

Nash

for

Markstrom
1st
Howden

Nash

for

Rask
and other adds on

Nash

for

Enroth
2nd
and a defensman

Nash

for

Shneider
2nd
Ballard

Anyone else miss the blurb by GMSH in last weeks paper?

And I quote,"Nash is our captain of the future"

Sounds like he has no plans to trade him.

At this point, anyone that wears a CBJ sweater should be on the trading block.

The only problem is that the "culture" that has developed in this organization has created this mess.  The front office needs completely revamped far more than the players on the ice.  You bring in a new President, a new GM and many others that can turn this disaster of an organization into something great and I guarantee the current players on the ice would be playing totally different hockey.  The message truly comes from the top down.

i agree ...

Nash as our captain has to not be ok with all of this ... as the leader he has to motivate and inspire and kick some asses that need kicked ... and if he can't or won't then give the C to someone who can and will

The only problem is that the "culture" that has developed in this organization has created this mess.

Well said!  At some level, "leadership" is ok with our culture.  I don't know what that level is...but from there down the attitude (dasnut says "culture") must change for the on-ice results to change.

Andrew Murray spoke of it indirectly in the Dispatch recently by expressing his surprise at the sharks showing up for practice early to work on things.  The obvious implication: that doesn't happen here.

Vinny Prospal spoke of the lack of intensity during practice early this season.

Hitchcock lost the team because he was too hard on them.

....where are we headed next!?!?!?!
