About two months too late.  This entire organization needs a complete overhaul.  Bring in Craig Patrick in a higher senior role status than he is currently being deemed as and let him oversee how to rebuild this organization starting from the top down.  We've got way too many people in the upper echelon of this organization that need to be shown the door.  A serious message needs to be sent to the players, the NHL and the fans, blow the whole thing up and start over.  And that begins with the entire executive office, they all suck.

Now if only the owner can do something about Priest and Howson. With the TDL coming up, I would like to see this team take a new direction.

Don't let the door hit you on your way out Scott

Finally the ice has been broken and the task of refurbishing this entire franchise from the top down (hopefully) has begun

Had to be done. Whatever the message was just got lost about half way into LAST season.

Hopefully this isnt the last change this team sees.

I am sad to see him go.  He was a good guy and I thought a good coach, but lost something.  But a change was needed (again) and it will be a good start.  I think Patrick is already starting to throw his weight around.

I wonder what this "new direction" Howson is talking about going to be. Dasnut, I agree 100% percent with you. We need to get rid of all the management and fill them with people who actually know hockey and have been around the game

ONLY until they revamp the front office and change this "country club" atmosphere that is rumored to be within the walls of the CBJ offices will I get excited about this organization.

We've had many coaches at the helm and this team still continues to struggle...maybe, just maybe there are other problems besides our coaching.  Crazy thinking, I know.

As far as where the team goes - we don't have a lot worth trading.

If we're not trading Nash, Brassard is the next best option (only cuz he's young). With Jeff Carter in the first year of an 11 year deal, it'd be hard to get something good in return (especially since Howson sucks at swinging trades and Carter only wants to play when he's motivated to do so). Prospal may land us a third rounder, but that's not setting us up for the future. Can't trade Mason, nobody wants him. Nobody wants Huselius, who is a UFA after the season and is making 4.75 million and he's on IR the entire season. Possibly Umberger, but could we really get something worthwhile in return?

At the end of the day, it boils down to actually getting the deal done. Unfortunately, Howson doesn't know how to do that. I think he remains GM until the end of the season, and Patrick takes over. Looking forward, I dont think Howson has what it takes to rebuild this franchise, Patrick does.

That's called thinking outside the boxs something that is taking 12 years and counting for this franchise to understand

Arniel was in way over his head ... i think everyone saw that ... from making poor decision that cost us wins to not knowing the stats about his own team ... i am very happy he is gone ... he got more than a fair shot and failed miserably over and over ...

i just hope they don't screw up and start winning now and kill our lottery pick ...

Pretty much pointless at this point. Kinda hoped Arniel would last the season, as he seemed the most likely to help us lock up the 1st overall pick.
