A really good article by Adam Proteau from The Hockey News, reflexting the recent firing of Scott Arniel.

And in the same time a smack on the face of what this franchise has truly become.

Thanks for the link.

I don't want to believe all is lost, but it's hard to argue against it.  It doens't get any worse than 30th.

I agree that it was not completely his fault for the teams failures this season.  But I do believe he was at a lot of what his next idea would be.

When you have a GM that thinks the players that he has given the coach is the tallent he should have do to a million times better than the Jackets have done this season, and you still fail like we have.  Then yes, the coach is going to have to go.  Same thing happened with Hitch.

As many have said before, the problems start from the top and go through the whole organization.  Get rid of Preist, Howson, and our other "franchise" player, Mason and it would be an amazing start.  If any of these are still left by the beginning of next season, we will end up in the same situation as this season.  I will only accept Mason still being on the team if he is playing for our AHL team or as a back up.

Most agreed.  He needs to ride the pine a while and regroup.  The kid is still only 23 so not all is lost, he's got the skills to be good or dare I even say great.  But with the amount of coin GMSH threw his way, it's too much money to have him sitting on the bench of playing in the AHL.  So most likely he will be dealt elsewhere for a fresh start.

Someone posted on Hockeybuzz this trade:

"Carter and Mason for Schneider, Raymond and a 2nd"

I would be ecstatic to get this deal done.  Ian Clark gets reunited with Schneider (& convinces Schneider to sing an extension with CBJ) and we get some promising chances in Raymond and a 2nd rd pick.  And I could very well see Mason doing very well learning first hand from Luongo.  No way in hell this deal happens, but it's most certainly worth the thought to dream of getting a netminder like Schneider.

I really don't think that the 'Nucks are going to let Schneider go that easy.  Not with them wanting a cup any day soon.  Luongo can be good, but when he is bad, he is bad.  They have all the confidence in the world to put Schneider in and he will get the job done.  Now after they get the cup, I could see a deal being done for either Luongo or Schneider, but not until then.
