I have been looking over players and all. I really don't think we going to get close to what we want for Carter if we trade him. I am starting to think we hold on to Carter Nash Wiz Brassard. We trade some of the lower players for good picks or prospects that are NHL ready. Then we go into the draft. Get the best player there. Then build what we can for next year. There will be free agent goalies coming up in the off season. I starting to think we not giving Carter enough of a chance here. I like RJ but what could we get. I know we not getting a Goalie at the trade deadline that is for sure. They need a real number one. All the teams that have a number 1 ready backup won't part with them till after the playoffs.

I don't know much or heard much about LA's Backup goalie. Is he our answer? I almost wish we could get someone a little more known like schnider or Rask.

For anyone keeping tabs on Bernier he got replaced by a certain  Steve Mason at the WJC.And hasnt shown  anything promising in a backup role.

Thats why I am sadly not sold on Bernier.

I'm beginning to lean that way as well. Carter scores his first game back and clangs another off the post. He looked good on the 2 line...something we have yet to see this season. We need to give Carter a reason to care. He's got all-world skills, the problem is getting them out of him.

Also have liked Brassard's play as of late. Little late to be turning it on, but he has looked solid as well.

Given that, I'd like to see Nash and Carter on the wings with either Johansen or Brassard in the middle. I know Ryan is still very young, but if he's supposed to be the #1 center of the future, what's the purpose of playing him on the wing?

My ears tell me there is no way Jeff Carter is a Blue Jacket at the end of this month, but my mind is hesitant to believe this. It just seems like a very hard player to move. I hope we get a GOOD deal worked out or no deal at all.

I dont think a deal will get done.

Eklund is reporting we are in talks with Calgary regarding Carter. What they are offering or what we want is unknown. But if Carter is unmotivated to play in the Columbus s-hole, why would he be motivated to play in the current Calgary s-hole? Knowing Eklund, everything he reports turns out to be wrong anyways.

Never going to happen. Parise is a UFA and there's no way you could convince him to sign an extension here.

We all know something is coming. But what? I still going to follow feelings. Keep Carter Wiz Nash Brass and build the team around them. I don't want to see Nash go but I get the feeling He wants a cup and knows rebuild is 5 years. I belive we can't think cup yet. First goal for next year should be at least be boarderline playoffs. Year after that playoffs for sure. and you get the idea.

I just hate to waste a top name player and not get the goalie we want. Unless we could get one with a combo trade like (hate to say it) RJ and vermette and a 3rd round pick for schnider kinda trade.

A trade like that would be horrible , we need multiple young assets not another all-star to figure out how to build around.

Hello everyone.  Calgary Flames visitor here, and I come in peace, seeking information.

Over on the Flames message board (http://fans.flames.nhl.com/community/topic/17081-discussion-jeff-carter/) we've been having some very in-depth conversations about Jeff Carter, and what it would take for a successful trade.  The feeling over on our side is that we'd love to have Carter on our team, but given that Howsen has publicly stated that the recent offers have been "low ball", what do you folks feel would be a decent trade between our 2 teams?
