Just for hogg, I thought I would start thinking about next year.  I know, it is still this season and we need to focus on the playoffs, but I am think Blue Jackets everyday and the playoffs aren't for a few days.  We can revisit after the playoffs, but just for the sake of discussion let me know your thoughts.

Take a look at the roster, and let me know who needs to go!  Give me about 5 names of guys who are gone, mostly active roster, but whatever you think.  After that, give me the names of guys who are here next year, either from the juniors or minors, and/or F.A and trades.  Lets see who is right on, I am asking Nate to archive and mark this one, and we will take a look at it in October and see how close we are.

Gone:
1. Modin
2. Gratton
3. Dubelewicz
4. Backman
5. Rome

Here:
1. Filatov
2. Picard
3. LaCosta
4. Clitsome
5. Mayorov

Didn't put down Rusty only cause Hitch thinks he can do something and he was injured this year.
Pecs might also leave, but these are my top 5 of each.

Gone!

1) Peca, not resigned
2) Bacman, not resigned
3) Gratton, not resigned
4) Malhotra, not resigned *
5) Novotny, restricted but gone
6) Dubie, not resigned
7) Tolietsen, not resigned
8) Modin, released
9) Voracek, via trade

I put an * by Manny!  I think it depends on what happens with two things.  1st off, if we sign Williams!  If Jason is here, Manny is gone.  2nd, what we do with the young guys like the two Mac's and Filatov.  I do think he might be back at a reduced price, but he likely will get 1.4 mil from another team.

Guys here!

1) Filatov, duh!
2) Myorov
3) Mattias Ohlund
4) Paul Mara
5) Ryan Malone via trade for Voracek  blink

Yeah!  Did you not see my other post?  Basically, and I am alone in this thought, Hitch doesn't like Jake.  With all his talent, and has played really well this year, Jake still only got around 10 min a game.  I just think Hitch doesn't like Jake's style, and I believe he is looking for a "Hitch" type player.  With other young guys already here (Filatov, Brassard, etc), I think Hitch/Howson will look at Jakes' trade value to upgrade on defense, or get a winger who plays tough Hitch style hockey.

The Malone thing, just a reach on my part, but Tampa will be unloading some $$ and looking to retool.  Malone was sought after hard by us, and Hitch really likes his style.  Jake would be a player who Tampa would be looking for, young, cheap, with a very high ceiling.  Probably not going to happen, but Jake will be moved!

I wish I had lots of money to spare. I'd wager you a $1000 that Jake will be here. He's a rookie that's still learning the game Fly. Just because Jake doesn't get lots of ice time in his first year doersn't mean Hitch doesn't like him.

i don't want to say Fly is straight up wrong that he will get moved, because it could happen (i wont say 80% like Fly, but i could). What i disagree with is Fly's logic behind WHY he will be moved. I think you are wrong about Hitch not liking Jake.

I dont want to explain it again, because i already did in the other thread. This is just how Hitch handles young potential. Its how he's always done it and its how he has decided to progress Jake's career.

Just because you think so, doesn't mean Hitch likes him either!  Jake will no longer be a Jacket!  I don't like it either, but he is gone!!!

I don't disagree about how Hitch handles rookies!  But, even when Hitch did move Jake to the 1st or 2nd line, he never gave him a chance to compete for the whole game.  Not once did he allow him to play most of the game on that line, or with the top guys.  I just get this feeling that of the people on this team, and the room that will have to be made for new players (trade, FA, or minors), Jake is the odd man out.  I think there is a better chance of Modin being here than Jake!!!

if that happens, I am going on tour with Dion Warwick.  ROFL

Chunk, no he didn't have 80 points, but he played pretty well.  He had 45 points, but more than that, if you watch Malone play, he is a very strong defender.  A forward that can score and play super defense, is something we could use.  Obviously, Malone isn't coming here, but for speculations point, he would add a lot to this team.

If Fly is correct again, we may have to make a special forum for Fly's rumors.   Eklund has nothing on our Fly!   big grin

Although, I hope you're wrong.
