I've been pondering this regular season and our lineup.

MVP - Steve Mason
This one move immediately changed the team for the better.  He instilled confidence in Hitch, the players in front of him and the fans.  If LeClaire could have remained healthy (not possible for more than 30 days at a time) I don't think we're in the mix right now.

MVP runners-up:  Nash, Vermette

LVP - Rusty Klesla
Just can't express my disappointment with this guy.  When they drafted him I thought "Great pickup.  Big defenseman that will fill out and deliver crushing hits."  Alas, this has never happened.  Klesla always looks afraid.  He takes huge hits and is often hurt.  All that 'getting hit' hasn't made him even slightly nasty.  He hits like a girl and is a liability any time the puck is on his stick.  Players on opposing teams have no respect for his game....probably because he has none.

LVP runners-up:  Modin (too much downtime)

I'd much rather have Klesla over Backman anyday.

MVP - Steve Mason

Let's say if we didn't have steve mason Rick Nash and company might be hitting their first tee-shots of the year

LVP - Freddy Modin

He didn't play enough, and when he did all his shots were rung off the bar.

i agree that mason is the mvp...no doubt....but i argue that the team couldn't have won with a healthy pazzy in goal...when he was healthy last year he was very good...as far as the runner up nash is a good choice...vermette wasn't here long enough to warrent consideration tho...i know he was not a player but scotty would be my number 1 choice for runner up...and also don't forget that fedor has been very good....

on your lvp i would just say this...it's easy to pick on rusty or modin because of injuries....and unless you have some friends that dress in the visitors locker room, i would doubt that you have any clue as to what the opposing players think about him.i would guess that you meant in your opinion he has no game.

i really can't think of a lvp because there has been very few turds laid this year as opposed to past...you can knock bachman but if you remember he wasn't very highly thought of when the trade was made.maybe freddie norenna but he left town along time ago....

To counter my LVP selection of Klesla, Hitch sees something in him.  If he's healthy, he's playing.  Just not sure that speaks to Klesla's abilities or our lack of depth in good D men.

MVP-Mase, where would we be without him?!

LVP-Modin, who did nothing once again this year because of injury and getting older.

some of you forget that freddie mo sucked it up and played with a broken foot when others were hurt and unable to play.........he might not be the player he once was but i bet everyone in the locker room looks up to him and his experience will help if he just plays on the 4th line

I'm going to submit two for each, with justifications...

MVP

Easy choice: Steve Mason.  See above.
Think about it choice: Rick Nash.  I haven't seen any player put the team and the game above himself since I started watching/following/loving hockey about 15 years ago.  He makes everyone on the ice with him better and, on repeated nights, he's been the intangible that has claimed victory from the jaws of defeat.  He's also the best penalty-killer on the team, if not in the conference or in the league.

LVP

Easy Choice: Backman.  No one has been kicked in the chops more this year by the media (mostly on the radio) than Backman, and deservedly so.
Think about it choice: Modin.  I agree with Hogg, in that there haven't really been too many turds this year.  But I don't think lack of playing time and injury are mitigating factors here.  You don't play, you don't have value unless we trade you (see: LeClaire, Pascal).  Sorry, Freddie.
