I'm still having trouble finding the issues in the database.  Also, I"ve been really busy within my community of late.  If you guys have heard on the news about the Ohio School district that failed a levy and just lost all sports, that's me.  So I've been going to a lot of meetings and stuff.   I'm sorry I haven't been working as much on the site of late.  I will get the issues fixed soon!

I heard about that. is that N. Olmsted or Oregon?
Darn shame. From what I have read, it sounds like the kids have already faced some serious cuts to needed programs.

Good luck with your efforts.

Southwestern part of Central Ohio.  Our community is the worst in the area about passing school levys.  My city and the Columbus part of the district pass it OK, but there are 4 townships that for whatever reason vote them down at almost a 70% clip that overcomes the passage within the city and suburb.  The big issue is really Gov. Strickland and his cuts the eduction budget to do all of his other stupid stuff (slot machines, etc...).  Which is why the district has to ask for money.

They're putting it back on in November.  We'll see what happens.  But I feel I have to do my part for my kids since they are in school and being affected by this.

On the problems with the site.  I'm still not sure what is causing it.  But it has something to do with the attachments function in the DB.  I know where it is (I think) I just need to figure out and remove the problem.

A crying shame what's going on in that district.  The kids are really the ones suffering first and foremost.  The idiots who voted no, have no clue what passing the levy means to the kids and the quality of life within the district.  The long term value of property in that district will struggle to keep in pace with other local districts that do pass their levies.  I was born and raised in Bexley and now live in Dublin, both districts where people want to live in for their school systems.  Worst yet, people who will try and move to another district for their kids sake will struggle to sell their homes.  Just a terrible scenario.  Best wishes on getting the idiots out voted!

Not being so close to the entire situation, I still wonder why the school board did not even entertain a pay to play type scenario if the levy failed.  You would think they should have at least considered a backup plan so kids could still play sports this fall season.

The board initially said that since the district was so diverse and having spots in the district that are economically disadvantaged, they didn't' want to create a sense of elitism in the district (ei, Grove City could field teams but other schools couldn't).  Reading between the lines, they just wanted to dangle sports over the voters heads to get the levy to pass.  Of course now Pay to Play is on table.  Go figure.

The other issue is the district just might be to diverse.  You have Grove City (a suburb), areas of Columbus and Townships (rural areas).   A lot of the Columbus parts have either really poor people and a high immigrant population.   You just might not ever be able to do anything that makes everyone happy.  Already, most of the district doesn't like Grove City for whatever reason.  However, the Townships are the ones that failed the levy.  Grove City passed it by 56%, Columbus by 54% but the townships combined voted it down by a 67% clip.  Not sure what you do there.

What's also frustrating is Grove City High School rates right up with the best high schools in the area if you look at the school report card.  It has an Excellent rating and a higher graduation rate than the Hilliard schools.   Needless to say, if the next levy fails a lot of us in Grove City are seriously considering having the city government consider pursuing Grove City Schools.

Was just thinking that as I read your first paragraph.  I was told there was a breakdown on where it passed/failed in the paper.  I didn't really think about the diversity the district deals with.  It's kind of a no brainer that Grove City needs to have their own School system much like Dublin/Westerville/etc.  Just too bad they haven't seriously tried to do it years before!

Back on the site issues.  I can't seem to locate the issue in the db.  So I'm very much considering upgrading the forum to the new 2.0 boards.  This will upgrade the db and most likely get rid of the problem.  I'm going to test it on a test site first, and if it works that' probably the direction I'm going to go.  Probably a good idea to upgrade the site before the season anyway!

That's part of the database issue I can't fix with the current code script.  I'm working on trying to upgrade the site on a test site to the new 2.0 boards.
