ok,
Wait a second, filatov was almost a point per game last year in the AHL, where he got sick, nicked up, and played with less than NHL 4th liners on a regular basis. He may not have over achieved but he did more than held his own, he did what he was suppose to. When he was drafted, the reason he didn't have as much hype as Stamkos was because he was a Russian skater and no one knew if he would stay with his agreement to play in the NHL if the KHL came calling. This guy is legit and (I love Jake as much as the next guy) is better at this age than Jake was and possibly is. In the long run, there will be no comparison between the two. Filatov is a head above Jake in talent. That's why you start him on the second line above Umberger.
Fly, i understand Umberger's offensive prowess, but he is better used on the third line as a shutdown foward. Just because he is on the 3rd line, doesnt mean he can't score just as much if you put him on a line that allows him the chance. I think with Pahlsson and Torres, he fits in as the offensive weapon while Pahlsson and Torres are complimentary to his skill set. That line would be one of, if not the best shutdown line in the NHL period.

i've read all the different points of view on this and i see both sides but i still think 5hole is right on with his argument...nobody is knocking r.j. or jake it's just the filatov's style of play and body size makes him more suited for a top 6 position....look at it this way , do you want him trying to shut down the opposing team,s top line or would you trust r.j. to get the job done?
anyway..this is a great discussion.......DROP THE PUCK ALREADY.....
