Some fan was acting like he was Filatov on Twitter. Was even making remarks about he was getting contract offers. Now that he was caught and the Blue Jackets went after him he has conceded that he
is a fake. The question is, how did the guy get Twitter to verify the account. Hopefully this guy didn't hack Filatovs email because he'll probably go to jail.
Blue Jacket rookie Nikita Filatov has 396 Twitter followers. One problem. It's not Filatov, the Jackets say.
The Blue Jackets' organization is contacting the popular social networking site this afternoon to have the pseudo-Filatov account removed.
Filatov has assured general manager Scott Howson that it was not him tweeting. "I don't even know how to get on it," Filatov said this morning.
The organization is trying to figure out how the account became verified. Filatov says someone with access to his personnel e-mail might have convinced Twitter that it was authentic. The only Blue Jacket with a verified account is Mike Commodore, Jackets spokesman Ryan Holtmann said.
The spokesman added that between seven and 10 players have Facebook accounts.
The Filatov impersonator created a minor stir in recent days with a Twitter update that reads:
"Interesting, Sergei Nemchinov (coach of CSKA Moscow) called and offered me largest contract offer I have seen so far. Maybe KHL not so bad."
