This is one of the biggest stories to ever have come out of sports. Tiger Woods, the richest and best known athlete to have ever walked the surface of the earth. A hero and role model to millions. I get the just that most of us are also fans of Golf, and most fans of Golf are also fans of Tiger. I will start this topic will the two statements released by Tiger so far…

“As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore.
This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.
This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.
The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.
This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be. “

“I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.
But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.
Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.
I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.”

At this moment I cannot find a way to write anything about this subject, I’ve tried but I just can’t put anything together. I wish Elin the best, and I hope Tiger can step up and truly admit his mistakes, because to me he seems to be running. He has brought this upon himself, and he is not acting like the role model I would have expected him to be.

Notice: my opinion on this matter changes day by day

I would love for my fellow jackets/golf fans to comment on this story.

I still don't know what to think.  I feel like when something happens to someone in the public image, everyone is required to have an opinion... "What do you think about this Tiger Woods thing?"

I don't really care.  I feel bad about not really caring.  He is unfaithful to his wife, which upsets me to the same degree as if I heard the same thing about any couple I know.  It is terrible for the family.  I feel sorry for his wife.  On the other hand, he is Tiger Woods.  He is the world's richest athlete, married to one of the most gorgeous women in the world, playing a game he loves for a living while making millions doing it.  I can't shed a tear over that.  He's an idiot for ruining that and not counting his blessings, so to speak.

I understand it's hard for a guy like Tiger to stay straight as a board all the time, he has so much money he doesn't know what to do with it. I wouldn't mind if Tiger did this but the fact that he has kids is the main issue. I feel really bad for Elin and the kids, I don't think I would take Tiger back, there are just so many things he has done here that his trust should be broken forever.

Look at Tigers best friends outside of golf, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley, both who lived crazy lives when they were younger.

It's bad that he is taking time off golf for the game of golf, the PGA tour is already loosing money yearly and this won't help at all. I plan on someday attedning Q-school, but honestly I'd rather play on the European Tour, the courses are nicer and so are the people.

This is my input on the topic:

Tiger Woods is and probably (at least in our lifetime) will be the best golfer ever! He excels at what he does and works his ass of to stay there. That is where this topic should end. The media disgusts me, they really do. I hate the media and how tainted they make things to get ratings and or viewers. Tiger's personal life should be just that PERSONAL. Why should we care what he does in his life besides what he does on the golf course, that is what seperates him from you and I. We, although might like to play golf and consider ourself good golfers, are not Tiger Woods. We are no by any means at his level of pro. We should care and follow his sporting career not his family career. Maybe im crazy but am I the only freaking person on this planet that does not care what is going on in a professional athletes personal life, its not our place to judge or care!!

Well put Tuskin, I just can't get past the fact that he could be so stupid.

I'm glad to hear Elin is calling for a divorce, smart move.

Golf will sorely miss Tiger, he is the greatest.

I think this whole thing is a little like watching one of those 30 car pile-ups on an ice covered freeway. You can't believe what you're seeing, you can't look away, you feel bad to see all of this carnage and two days later you laugh your a$$ off.

Obviously you don't want to see his kids and wife go through all of this... but Americans love to see those who are "bigger than life" crash and burn. Honestly, I think he'll be back on the course soon and his golf game will be better than ever. As long as he can handle getting made fun of while walking around on the course.

Hello,

Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods (born December 30, 1975) is an American professional golfer whose achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. This makes Woods himself half Asian, one-quarter African American, one-eighth Native American, and one-eighth Dutch. He refers to his ethnic make-up as “Cablinasian”.

Thanks,
