We need veterans.  Lee is young.
We need established within the league.  Lee is not yet.
We need someone who is already known to be a top 2 defensemen, has established that fact, and can help shore up the leaks in our own zone.

Absolutely, 100% true!  I have been saying this for about 3 seasons now (well, really 9)

777, you are totally correct about this!  Don't you or anyone misunderstand what I am saying!  Lee is not the savior we are looking for, he is not the top 2 D guy we have to have, he isn't even the guy who can change anything this season!

What I am saying is that he is a real talented Defenceman, he is defensive minded, tough, strong, and likes to hit people!  AND he is better than any D guy we have, which means he would upgrade our team!  We are not going to change the team with a just one big time guy, it has to be several changes!  BUT, we do have to have that one big time guy  bring it all together!

Lee, would be an immediate upgrade to the defensive unit of this team!

Ok, I understand what you're saying now.  Also, it may not have been you, but some people are saying that ANYTHING is better than Filatov right now because Filatov may or may not return next season.

While I'd love to see Filatov return and back up Nash as the Jackets' 2nd point-per-gamer, his status is quite questionable right now.

Nah, I just feel Filatov is not going to help this team!  I know some don't like that, but that is how I feel!  I don't think he will ever be a strong defensive winger (i.e Juice) and that is not what we need!  SO, I think Filatovs value for us is trade bait...that doesn't mean I don't think he is good!  I will say this, he wouldn't be backing up Nash as #2 scorer!  Vermette to me is a far better player, even on offense than Nik, but I am biased!

from espn.....
The Columbus Blue Jackets might be looking to shake of their team soon. Of course, we know they were eying Ottawa Senators D Brian Lee, but there may be more moves on the way.

Only one problem, though: GM Scott Howson can't find a trade partner.

Fly brought us Vermette, hopefully Lee has the same effect.
