One of Canada's biggest yearly celebrations, the world juniors. Every year millions of us wake up on boxing day with one thought in mind, how long till puck drop. I would say it's almost as big as the playoffs and the olympics, why I cannot say.

This year the world converges in Saskatchewan. There is literally nothing there to do, so hosting an event like this is heavily celebrated.

Here's the schedule:

http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature/?id=707

Here's the groupings:

http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature/?id=12150

Most countries camps are still in progress so I can't report on expected lineups yet. All I know is today Tyler Seguin and Brandon Gormley were released. Central Scouting (the most used scouting service of the NHL) had Seguin ranked first to go in next years draft, Gorms is also expected to be a first rounder. It amazes me that Canada can release such players but as the coach said "When you’re coming into our camp, it’s all about whos most ready to play right now."

I will report on the US lineups as soon as a list is released. John Moore, our first round pick of last years draft is expected to be playing defense for the US team.

I'm not sure how many of you get NHL Network, but if you do then I have some good news.

A holiday-season tradition will return to the NHL Network-U.S. for the third-straight season, as once again the network will broadcast all of Team USA's games at the 2010 World Junior Championship.

I'm sure lot's of you will be watching, I'll be cheering on Canada, but I will also be cheering for Filatov.

Wounder if Moore made the team blink

nope! ha

Canada has won it's first two games, very easily.

http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature/?id=12150

We face the USA on new years eve to see who goes directly to the semi's, we won the same game last year in one of the best in the tournament.

Canada: GF: 30 GA: 2
USA: GF: 22 GA: 4

both teams are unreal, let's see what happens

Filatov ain't doing anything special yet

WJC: USA 5 - Sweden 2.  Wow, what a fantastic game! This was a great game to watch. It was tough to root against the Swedes, but the Stepan to D'Amigo shortie had me out of my seat. I love watching these kids play like the game means something. With how Jakob Markström had been playing, I never thought I'd see four go past him tonight. I was pretty impressed with the win against the Finns, but am almost downright shocked with how they've completely taken over this third period.

The Canada-United States final should me a great matchup on Tuesday. Lee has looked great tonight against a bunch of future NHLers, let's hope that he can follow this up with a good game against our friendly neighbours up north.  2 thumbs up

As an aside, Filatov looked borderline terrible in this competition...

Same here. It would have been better if the outcome was different
